Yellowhead Highway
Along the Yellowhead Highway the land to the side of the road became more agricultural and we were seeing barns and cattle rather than endless forests. We were also enjoying the trappings of these more populated areas such as 7-11 petrol stations with cappuccino machines.
Logging is also big business in this area and sawmills are a common sight.
We visited some traditional longhouses. The exterior is painted with striking motifs of animals and gods.
We met Alf and Jerry near Watson Lake when they were on holiday in their RV. They invited us to stay with them at Vanderhoof and let us sleep inside the RV which we were very excited about having seen so many on the roads.
From here we headed up through Prince George and McBride to Mount Robson, the highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies.
